Recycling & Waste

QV.1 is actively committed to sustainability and the recycling of products within the working environment. The need to recycle materials and use sustainable products is ever increasing as the world's developing countries increase their standard of living and demand on world resources.

QV.1 is consistently improving the use of water, energy and other resources within the common areas of the building.

QV.1's "Green Committee", formed by representatives of QV.1's tenants, are constantly reviewing current work practices with aim of achieving best practice.

In addition to the initiatives by building management, each tenant and their employees are encouraged to participate in our commitment to sustainability.

Without taking up much time in our busy lives, an extensive range of items from our normal working day can be recycled and these items have been identified through either the facilities provided by the building or by external parties.

The following provides the range of recycling services available within QV.1:  

	Paper/Cardboard Each workstation throughout the building is supplied with a RWS paper/cardboard recycling box for the easy disposal of recyclable paper items. Larger RWS paper recycling bins have been strategically placed throughout the floors (ie. photocopy rooms). These bins are clearly identified by their black bin / blue lid.
	Glass, Plastic & Aluminium All glass, plastic or aluminium items should be placed in the blue RWS bin / red lid. These bins are located in the kitchen areas of each floor.
	Polystyrene This newest reycling service enables our tenants to recycle all polystyrene products.  These bins are clearly identified by their yellow bin / white lid bins.

Fluorescent Lamps
Building fluorescent lamps are recycled by the building's maintenance department in to 660 litre recycling bins located in the load dock which are removed from site and recycled by RWS.

Tenants are encouraged to contact QV.1 Management should they have any fluorescent lamps for recycling.

Printer & Toner Cartridges
QV.1 has an agreement set in place with Laser Exchange to recycle all printer and toner cartridges. Reycling boxes are located in most print rooms, and are available from QV.1 Management on request.

E-Waste (IT Equipment)
RWS provide two x 240 E-Waste bins for the disposal of standard office computer/phone equipment.

Larger bins can also be provided for the disposal of bulk equipment and this can be arranged through QV.1 Management.

Batteries
Both RWS and PlanetArk are used throughout the building to recycle all suitable batteries.

Carpet Tiles
All carpet tiles used in QV.1 are manufactured by Ontera and are recyclable. Recycling of the tiles involves super cleaning them, shaving a short amount of the tuft off and re-dying them. The carpet tiles are then resold.
